Little Black Ants
These ants are only about 1.5 mm in length but they invade in large numbers. You’re likely to find them in flower beds, on ornamental plants, and other vegetation, where they can find aphids. But they can also find their way inside and be a pain when they bring hundreds of thousands of their friends with them.
Acrobat Ants
At only 5.4 mm, these ants are quite small too. If you have acrobat ants inside your home it is possible that you have wood-destroying insects in your walls. Acrobat ants use tunnels and galleries established in wood by other insects.
Argentine Ants
These ants can grow to 2.8 mm in length. These ants are attracted to wood debris, mulch, and can be found in organic piles. They love decay and this love for decaying things makes this type of ant a health threat when it gets into a home.
Fire Ants
While not as obscure as the ants listed above, fire ants are not as big a problem as carpenter ants and odorous house ants, so they often get forgotten. But, if these ants start to appear in your yard, it is important to take action before the problem gets out of hand. These ants sting. They can be a threat to anyone who is allergic to their venom, or people who are unable to get away, such as babies, elderly, and the infirm.
